You don’t need to be a techie to understand that these tactics flat out work. If you can spare just 30 minutes a day you can double your traffic in 2 weeks.
In this interview with Tony Zayas we discuss how he was able to take someone else’s website from zero to hero in no time. Just because you build a great blog, fill it with killer content, and continue to optimize it doesn’t necessarily mean that the hoards will come knocking at your door.
This strategy is just one that we teach in the course, but I felt it was imperative to everyone’s business and a great example of how a little dedication goes a long way.

really good video there guys, and one of the biggest takeaways is that the key to consistent traffic is consistent ACTION!
I’m just as guilty as everyone else for being in a flurry of activity and then doing nothing.
I think it’s best to look at traffic-building activity as putting gas in your car.
You need to keep doing it if you want your blog to keep going.
A buddy of mine has a spreadsheet with actions for different days.
every monday and wednesday he writes a new blog post and socially bookmarks it, then the other days he does other things. It works for him and I’m starting using it now myself!

I like the fact that you shared the google analytics and talked about how to search blogs in my own category. Of course posting quality links. I’ve already started searching google blogs and found a lot. Great video that is easy to follow and makes sense. Thanks for sharing. It clearly shows the power of social media.

Luisa, regarding your question, if you leave your URL where it says “website” in the comment section on this blog, whatever you put in for “name” will be a hyperlink to that URL. So in your post, your name is a link to your site…mine is the same here.
This is where I suggest using keywords for the “name” field. For example, if I wanted to optimize this comment for, let’s just say - guys who wear pinkish dress shits - I could have put “pink dress shirt guy” or something to that effect, in the “name” field. The point is that the name filed turns into anchor text, and hyperlinks with keywords (anchor text) are much more effective for search engine optimization than just listing a http://www.mysite.com — as the search engines may not know what that link is about.
The comment above by ‘Container Gardening’ is doing exactly what I’m suggesting. Just remember to leave a real/valuable comment, as if it looks like spam, the blog owner will most likely delete it. (And why would anyone want to click on your link anyway if you have nothing interesting to say!)
One last tidbit…if you’re commenting on a Blogger blog — one that ends in “.blogspot.com” — you can actually put anchor text anywhere in the comment section by using a little html, if that’s not too techie for you.

This is what I’m talking about. I love it. I was trying to do the URL thing with comments to blogs last night and I was a little fuzzy on it. For people just starting out with IM it is little things like this that will allow us to move onward. These little tidbits are like gold nuggets to me. Thank you.
Really the great problems to all the people in this industry are the discipline needed to select and invest their time in the most quality sources.
Social bookmark sites are big time consuming and need to have a realistic plan to spread your seed and generate visits.
This was really helpful. Just started promoting our site and I have learned so much in last few weeks. I have so much more to learn and need to block out a specific amount of time each day like you Tony.
